Jesus says, "I am the way, the truth, and the life," and it is a bible text often quoted in Christian circles. But, are we actually living what that text means? Ie., if we are following Jesus, then we must make Him "the Way" for our lives - ie., there is no other name under heaven that we can be saved through then Jesus Christ. There are many religions and even some in Christianity that teach that Salvation is found in a whole list of things you do - you must perform penance, do a pilgrimage, say certain ‘prayers’ or do other things. Friends, the Bible says the only WAY to heaven is through Jesus (Acts 4:12). We don’t need an earthly priest to do intercession for us, or to make a trip to a sacred site or perform certain ritualistic prayers! We don’t need to flog ourselves on the backside and crawl around in penance to atone for our sins, salvation is full and free in Jesus!
Not only is Jesus “the Way” but also “the Truth.” Truth - true absolute truth, is found in Jesus in His Holy Word. One must study that book carefully and prayerfully, and be very careful to interpret it correctly and not to allow the superstitions and traditions of men to blind us to the plain truths of the Word of God. The pharisees in Jesus’ day worshipped in vain because their traditions superceded and blinded them to the truths Jesus taught (Matt 15:9). The same is true for many professed Christians today, who worship God in accordance with empty man-made traditions instead of in simple adherence to God’s Word. We must seek to worship God in Spirit and in Truth (John 4:24). Is your worship today in harmony with the simple truths of God’s Word, or bogged down by endless traditions of men?
Jesus is also “the Life.” In Him is found eternal life, but more than that, He is to be our “Life” every day of our lives! Is He the life of your life? Do you make Him first, last and best in all you do? Is everything you do in harmony with His life example? Are you asking the question, “What would Jesus do” in everything you do?
May these questions and thoughts be with you today and through this week, God bless you!

The story is told in Matthew chapter 14 of Jesus' disciples on the sea of Galilea, battling for their lives in a terrible storm. In the struggle they spot Jesus walking on water towards them. Frightened that it may be a ghost, Peter asks that if it is indeed Jesus, that He would ask Peter to walk out unto the angry seas to go to Him. Jesus tells him to come, and so Peter gets out of the boat and walks towards Jesus. At first he is going great, but then he takes his eyes of Jesus and catches sight of the angry waves beating at him, whipped up by the violent winds. Fear and doubts overwhelm him, driving out his trust in Jesus’ protection to save, and he begins to sink. As he is sinking, he lifts his eyes from the angry waves and fixing them on Jesus, crises “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately comes to his side, reaches out his hand and, catching him, takes him back to the safety of the boat. What a lesson for us to consider! Why should we allow the storms of our lives to drown out our faith in Jesus and take our hope of eternal life away?
Friends, we can walk the furious storms of this life if Jesus is our focus! No matter how great your storm, cast your eyes on Christ, never let go! However, if you do, there’s another beautiful lesson in this story. You see, the moment Peter asked for help, Jesus immediately was there to help him. None of this, I’ll take my time to come over, but immediately! This teaches us the love and merciful compassion of our dear Saviour. No matter how deep you may be engulfed in the waves of sin and despair, no matter how great may be the storms of your life threatening to drown you, if you would just be call out to Him, He will immediately be there to lift you and save you out of all your troubles!
Do you believe this? Let us today grasp hold upon the promise of our Saviour, Heb 13:5 "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." Hebrews 13:5.
