I am the Way

Jesus says, "I am the way, the truth, and the life," and it is a bible text often quoted in Christian circles. But, are we actually living what that text means? Ie., if we are following Jesus, then we must make Him "the Way" for our lives - ie., there is no other name under heaven that we can be saved through then Jesus Christ. There are many religions and even some in Christianity that teach that Salvation is found in a whole list of things you do - you must perform penance, do a pilgrimage, say certain ‘prayers’ or do other things. Friends, the Bible says the only WAY to heaven is through Jesus (Acts 4:12). We don’t need an earthly priest to do intercession for us, or to make a trip to a sacred site or perform certain ritualistic prayers! We don’t need to flog ourselves on the backside and crawl around in penance to atone for our sins, salvation is full and free in Jesus!

Not only is Jesus “the Way” but also “the Truth.” Truth - true absolute truth, is found in Jesus in His Holy Word. One must study that book carefully and prayerfully, and be very careful to interpret it correctly and not to allow the superstitions and traditions of men to blind us to the plain truths of the Word of God. The pharisees in Jesus’ day worshipped in vain because their traditions superceded and blinded them to the truths Jesus taught (Matt 15:9). The same is true for many professed Christians today, who worship God in accordance with empty man-made traditions instead of in simple adherence to God’s Word. We must seek to worship God in Spirit and in Truth (John 4:24). Is your worship today in harmony with the simple truths of God’s Word, or bogged down by endless traditions of men?

Jesus is also “the Life.” In Him is found eternal life, but more than that, He is to be our “Life” every day of our lives! Is He the life of your life? Do you make Him first, last and best in all you do? Is everything you do in harmony with His life example? Are you asking the question, “What would Jesus do” in everything you do?

May these questions and thoughts be with you today and through this week, God bless you!
